During Memorial Day weekend, Mountainfilm debuted its 33rd annual festival in Telluride, Colorado to an enthusiastic audience of nearly 4,000 adventurers looking for new ways to see the world. Since 1979, Mountainfilm has screened compelling independent documentary films from around the world during a multi-day festival that also includes thought-provoking art exhibits and presentations by a diverse selection of special guests ranging from photographers to scholars to professional athletes to environmental activists.
What happens in this isolated canyon, enclosed by steep forested mountains and granite cliffs, has an impact on the greater world. At the end of the weekend, this community of doers reemerges into society inspired to share their stories and use their individual power and passion to provoke positive change.
